MIKE REMEMBERED

For those who don't know, Mike was the son of Michael Jones, Sr. an active participant and past national president of APA. Mike was an architecture student at Hampton University here in Virginia and was involved in a car accident and was taken from us.

Today his memory lives on in a very positive way through the donations given to the Michael D. Jones, Jr. Memorial Scholarship Fund.

Michael D. Jones Scholarship Fund

In 2006, the Richmond Chapter once again proudly presented a check from the Michael D. Jones, Jr. Memorial Fund to the daughter of one of our members, LaShirl Howlett. Brittany Howlett was the last Richmond recipient of this award. We commend Brittany for her record in both the classroom and the community.

To date this scholarship fund has awarded over $15,000 in student scholarships at the secondary and post secondary level.

Each year two $1,000 scholarship awards are given. The fund works with various organizations to identify scholarship recipients. In 2004, the Richmond Chapter was honored to participate in this decision making process.
