Sherwood Forest Plantation

This c. 1730s house was the home of 10th President, John Tyler from 1842 until his death in 1862. Continuously owned by the Tyler family since 1842, the grandson and family of President Tyler reside and maintain Sherwood Forest today.
 
 

Richmond Chapter's Class Schedule for 2008

The Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification program was developed by the American Payroll Association in 1985 as a method of serving the interest of those working in Payroll by establishing respect for Payroll as a profession rather than a technical discipline, by maintaining high standards in the industry, as well as by recognizing those individuals who have proven themselves to be among the top ranks of the industry.

In year 2000 the Fundamental Payroll Certification Exam (FPC) was offered for the first time ever. This certification was developed to promote the standard for payroll professionals that is accepted by the business community and the public at large.

Both exams are administered in various locations across the United States. More information may be obtained by visiting the National APA's web site at

The CPP Course

This is intended to prepare intermediate to advanced level Payroll Professionals for the Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) Exam. This is an intensive Payroll "body of knowledge" review course requiring an estimated 6-8 hours per week study time plus the weekly review sessions.

Any CPP who needs recertification hours can take the class once per tax year covered and receive CEUs. The study groups cover the current year in the fall and repeats the same information again in the spring.

The FPC Course

The Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) is open to all those who wish to demonstrate a baseline of payroll competency. The FPC is designed for:
  • Entry-level Payroll Professionals
  • Sales Professionals/Consultants serving the payroll industry
  • Systems Analysts/Engineers writing payroll programs
  • Payroll Service Bureau Client Representatives
